We drove up into the mountains of Colorado, a place filled with nostalgia and happy memories for me... and walked around the sun-spotted woods. You know that Colorado in the fall smell? That clean, dry air and pine needle smell? It's hard to describe, but gosh, I've missed that smell. We grabbed a beer in Georgetown and I soaked in the Colorado sun and the company that I've been missing since I moved. Paul and Bailey were the perfect companions. I'm not exaggerating: I love these two people.
The thing about Colorado fall is, it's fleeting. So by mid-October, when the beautiful colors of autumn are in full swing in Denver, the leaves have already made their transition to the ground up in the mountains. Alas, the stunning Aspen display that we were hoping to capture had already ended. Thankfully, this kind of thing doesn't bum people like Paul and Bailey out. They would have had a great time no matter the season.
We ended the day at Cheesman park in Denver, right by their home. No part of the day felt like work.
