Erica and Stephanie: Victorian Belle Portland Wedding

Whenever a client begins their inquiry having booked the Victorian Belle as their venue, I know immediately that there are some artistic values that we share: a love for the thoughtful design of the past extends to the way these clients view and value their photographs. As an anachronist at heart and a lover of historical photographic processes, It’s always a natural fit.

Erica and Stephanie found me through my tintype business, and we had a natural ease while making their engagement tintypes in Mt. Tabor Park. They are the exact clients I love meeting: easy going, funny, and focused on the right things (friends, family, and each other)while not sweating the small stuff. I knew their wedding would be sweet.

I loved the way Erica and Stephanie incorporated their distinct style into the day. The most notable was Stephanie’s wedding dress: it was fully hand embroidered and absolutely STUNNING. She also had a custom hair piece, and the most incredible bouquet of flowers by Calendula Cane. To keep her mom close, Stephanie (who owns a glass blowing business called Ghostwood Glass) made a gorgeous little urn that held her mama’s ashes and kept it close to her the whole day. With the help of their wedding planner Elizabeth Kramer (who was amazing to work with), the day felt so easy: casual but fashionable, low stress, and just enjoyable. I loved the way folks just drank wine and blew bubbles and kind of floated around the beautiful grounds while their friend’s band Roselit Bone played and then their DJ spun vinyl records. It was the kind of wedding that I would like to be a guest at. Also, they cut their Lauretta Jeans pie with A SWORD. It was awesome.
