“Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way
Take my hand and I will follow you”
Needless to say, 2020 has been off to a rocky and surreal start.
Of all the weddings I booked for 2020, the majority of my couples have had to make heartbreaking decision to cancel or postpone their weddings, and to be honest, by July I was really feeling sad and my summer was feeling empty without the joy of weekly celebrations.
Enter: Sam and Orion.
Orion’s family owns the incredible Oregon Lavender Farm, and without the loss of their venue, these two decided to pair down their guest list to just a handful of family and best friends and have a go at it. I’m so glad they did: this day was absolutely lovely. The small guest list left space for Sam and Orion to spend quality time with everyone, which often is lost at large celebrations. And the best part… they’re going to have a big party on the same weekend in 2021 to include those who couldn’t be there!
With facemasks, hand sanitizing stations, and socially distant seating, Sam, Orion and I ventured together into the unknown territory of a Covid-era wedding. Normal conversations about group family photos were thrown out the window, and they instead focused on how to best keep people safe. But even so, there was nothing cold or stifling about this wedding… it was a day full of love that everyone really needed after the last few months. I literally left this one grinning, and wished I could have stayed longer. (For me, that’s the mark of a truly great wedding.) It was a remarkable day, and proof that when people are in love, they can easily turn lemons into lemonade.
See you in 2021, S&O!
