Meagan and Mark: Ten Years

In the sixth grade, I remember seeing Meagan for the first time. I would stare at her in the hallways and study her interactions, amazed by her confidence in a time when I was so awkward and self-conscious. She was striking in every way: tall, charismatic, kind, talented, strikingly beautiful, and smart as a whip. Instead of envy, though, I just felt drawn to her energy and determined to make her my friend.

In high school, we became closer, and her magnetism became even more pronounced. When Mark told me about the first time he saw her at a party, and how everything slowed down like in the movies, and how he knew right then that he wanted to be with her forever, I believe it. She had the same experience when she saw him. In December of 2005, I was an 18-year-old photography enthusiast who had no idea what I was going to do with my passion, and Meagan took a huge chance by hiring me to shoot her wedding without the blink of an eye. That's the kind of people Meagan and Mark are: they support and love people, other artists, and above all, each other.

Ten years later, it seems meant to be that Meagan and Mark have also relocated to Oregon from Colorado. In those ten years, I've built upon the knowledge I gained on that first wedding shoot, and I think about it often. This is what I do now, and I may owe it all to them. The way they still look at each other and the connection they share, while still being engaged and present with their friends, is totally stunning. Truly.

We spent a day on the Oregon coast celebrating, laughing, and enjoying life. I think you can tell from these photos.
